LOCAL & PRIVATE
Your recordings
stay on your device.
Privacy policy · Effective 1 October 2026
The current extension does not upload recordings, require an account, or include analytics or advertising trackers.
What the extension handles
Screen Recorder captures the screen, window, or Chrome tab you select, together with shared audio when provided by Chrome and microphone audio when you enable it. This content may include personal or sensitive information visible or audible in the source you choose.
The extension processes this content on your device to create a video. It does not send recordings, audio, or video content to the developer or a remote server. The developer does not receive your recordings through the extension.
Permissions and your choices
- Screen sharing: Chrome prompts you to choose a source when you start a recording.
- Microphone: If enabled, the extension requests microphone access so your voice can be included.
- Storage: The extension uses Chrome’s storage permission to remember your recording settings.
The current version has no website host permissions, website content scripts, or background browsing-history collection. Recording begins when you start it and ends when you stop recording or end screen sharing.
Local storage and deletion
Recording metadata and video chunks are saved in IndexedDB within the extension’s storage in your Chrome profile. Recording settings are saved using Chrome’s local storage API. Encoded chunks are also held in memory during recording to support a download fallback if storage fails.
Browser-stored recordings remain until you delete them or the browser removes the data. Uninstalling the extension, clearing its data, storage eviction, or device failure can remove recordings. Download important videos for safekeeping.
Use Delete in the recording history to remove a browser-stored recording. Downloaded files are separate copies and must be deleted from your device separately. Recordings are not encrypted by the extension; anyone with access to your Chrome profile may be able to access them.
This website
This website uses no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, cookies, or browser storage of its own. It loads its page content and assets from the website host.
The hosting provider may process normal connection information, such as your IP address and request logs, to serve and secure the website. That processing is covered by the hosting provider’s privacy policy. It does not give the website access to recordings saved inside the extension.
Support and contributions
If you contact the developer by email or through GitHub, the developer receives the information you choose to share. It is used to respond to your request or investigate a problem. Avoid sending sensitive recordings unless you intentionally choose to share them. Public GitHub reports can be read by other people.
If you use a coffee or sponsorship link, you leave this website for a third-party service. That service processes payment and account information under its own policies and may share contributor details with the developer according to your choices and its settings. The extension does not handle your payment-card details.
The extension does not sell recording data or transmit it to third parties.
